A recent article in Massage Magazine highlights what they call “a revolutionary shift in the world of fitness,” where professionals both licensed in massage therapy and certified in personal training are able to meet their clients’ needs on a whole new level. Combining the knowledge necessary for the two disciplines results in a personal trainer who can help prevent injury by addressing small problems before they become large ones, and a massage therapist who is better able to address the whole health of a client.

The benefits of this interdisciplinary approach aren’t realized solely by the client, there are real advantages for the professional as well. The added skills, knowledge, and credentials can make a massage therapist/personal fitness trainer stand out from among their peers. This can lead to great market share in two growing industries. In addition, massage is extremely physically demanding. A personal training session does not require use of the same repetitive motions, though the trainer remains active throughout the session, meaning greater working opportunities without an added risk of injury or wear and tear, and even an increased level of fitness for the professional.

At LHAA we are firm believers in the synergy of our three academic programs, Massage TrainingPersonal Fitness Training, and Yoga Teacher Training, and the importance of treating the whole person, not just one element of their well-being.
